This weekend is almost here and with it comes the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon. As it draws closer we want to make sure you are as set up for success as possible. So when getting ready for the big day you'll want to make sure you have these essentials ready.
POINT 1: Your Race Bib
Remember that when putting on your racing bib, you'll want it on the front, center of your chest. You will not be able to race without it and while racing if it is not placed correctly you may not get accurate timing along with the photo recognition software may not recognize your bib number.
You can pick up your bib at the Tom Falvey Health and Wellness Expo Friday 3pm - 7pm or Saturday 10am - 4pm at the Savage arena. You'll also have a chance to stop at Dave's Running Shop booth and see if there is anything you want to pick up on sale.
POINT 2: Running Shoes, Apparel, & Nutrition
Don't forget that you will want to run in the shoe's you've trained and practiced with for race day. DON'T try breaking a new pair of shoes in last minute, you'll regret it.
It's also good to prep for the weather. Depending on the temperature you may want to wear a layer over your race day clothing or look for gloves or accessories. If you plan to shed layers at the start, plan for them to be a discarded clothing piece as you will not get it back after the race. Also, have your nutrition products and any extra water you may need.
POINT 3: Timeline, Parking, and Porta Johns
Make sure to prep in advance. Find out your corral, start time and make sure you know where to park! Since there will be a lot of people it is important to park early so you secure your spot and have time to prepare. Lot 10 near the finish will have plenty of parking along with side streets along the start line. Those can be found here!
EXTRA INFO: Aid Stations and Pacers
In case you need to know about where aid stations are they can be found here. Water, Gatorade, and GU will be provided at the stations along with vaseline and first aid kits. If you are wondering about on course pacers, you can find those on the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon Website.
Most of all, bring the confidence in your preparation for race day! You’ve all worked hard and this is your party and we can’t wait to cheer you on this weekend! Good luck out there!
