A Letter to Coach Bob...

A Letter to Coach Bob...

Jessica Barnes, a dedicated athlete in our personal training and Spring In Training programs, recently crossed the finish line at the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon. Following the race, she shared a heartfelt letter with Coach Bob, expressing how much her preparation contributed to her success on race day.

Dear Bob,
I just personally wanted to say thank you.

You (Coach Bob) made that marathon feel like a breeze! I was so nervous about a road race but your training beyond prepared me! I felt fantastic until about mile 21-22, you would be so PROUD how well I kept my pace those first 21 miles!!!! 7:40-7:59 then mile 21 and on was 8:15-8:47 and that was definitely the pain cave! Never knew my Brain and legs would or could fight each other like that!

Chip time 3hr 30min 22sec. According to my watch I was closer to a 26.48 race passed the marathon at 3hour 28min and 18 sec but who’s keeping score? You helped me accomplish exactly what I reached out to do! We hit that 3hour 30min marathon and I made new friends! (Which is crazy because I’m so shy) the crowd and people for this event put trail running to shame.

I’m going to soak up the next few weeks resting but will register for your personal training 14-16 week plan soon! Obviously not looking to start until end of May/early June, I’ll follow the resting rules! Let’s race the Garmin Marathon and see about shaving off 5-6min.

Again, thank you for everything, you’ve really taken my running to another level!

-Jessica Barnes
